Blankbottle "My Koffer" Cinsault 2022
'Koffer' means suitcase in Afrikaans, and this wine is Pieter Walser's ode to a suitcase full of memories from 12 years buying grapes off one Breedekloof family.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Cinsault from a raised bush-vine vineyard on the valley floor of the Breedekloof, Western Cape, South Africa.
Taste Profile: Fresh and floral on the nose with classic flavours of cherries and strawberries, an elegant wine with wonderful structure and a moreish character.
Winemaking Process: Grapes were picked at optimal ripeness and cooled overnight to 4°C, then hand-sorted the next morning and transferred to tank as 30% whole bunches, with the balance de-stemmed on top. The juice underwent spontaneous fermentation in open-top fermenters with one punch-down per day, before being pressed after 2-3 weeks into older French oak for 8 months on lees, then blended and bottled.
Winemaker: Pieter Walser is the restless mind behind Blankbottle, one of South Africa's most inventive and prolific winemakers. He owns no vineyards of his own, instead driving thousands of miles across the Cape Winelands each harvest — from Ceres to Stellenbosch and beyond — scouting out small, exciting parcels like this Breedekloof Cinsault. The Blankbottle name traces back to his university days, when he started buying unlabelled wine and selling it on in plain bottles; he founded the estate proper in 2003 and now releases 30-plus cuvées a year, each with its own story.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
