Thorne & Daughters "Cat's Cradle" Chenin Blanc 2024
A single old bush-vine parcel on a granite mountain, bottled by two of South Africa’s most quietly influential winemakers.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chenin Blanc from a single vineyard planted in 1979 on the granitic slopes of the Paardeberg in Swartland, Western Cape. Low-yielding, 40-plus-year-old bush vines and decomposed granite soils give the wine an unusually concentrated, terroir-driven character.
Taste Profile: Aromas of stone fruit, citrus and honey lead into a rich palate of ripe pear, quince and a hint of nutmeg. The texture is creamy and lush, balanced by bright acidity, finishing with a lingering minerality — a wine to enjoy now or cellar for years.
Winemaking Process: Aged in old French oak barrels for 10 months.
Winemaker: Since 2013, John and Tasha Thorne-Seccombe have sourced fruit from selected old-vine growers across the Western Cape under the Thorne & Daughters name, and are widely regarded as key figures in South Africa’s 'New Wave' movement. John trained in viticulture at Plumpton College in England before returning home to build a portfolio around single, historic vineyard sites like this one.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
