Made specifically to prove Pinotage deserves a seat at the world-class table.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinotage from vineyards across Walker Bay and Swartland, South Africa — 20% Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, 44% Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, 2% other Walker Bay and 34% Swartland, on low-vigour, stony, clay-rich shale soils under cool maritime climates close to the sea.
Taste Profile: Redefines what you know about Pinotage. Intense and classically styled, with complex berry fruit and subtle wood spice aromas. Dry and medium-bodied, with beautiful tannins and juicy acidity. Ripe black plum, blackberry and red cherry flavours, with hints of coffee and pepper.
Winemaking Process: Ages 9 months, with 56% in 228-litre French oak barrels and 44% in 400-litre French oak barrels.
Winemaker: Southern Right was founded in 1994 by Anthony Hamilton Russell alongside winemaker Kevin Grant, convinced that Pinotage — grown on the right cool, clay-rich sites — could rival the world's best reds. The pair planted across carefully chosen Walker Bay sites before establishing a permanent home in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in 1998, naming the winery after the rare Southern Right whales that frequent the cool waters just offshore.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
