Zinfandel once smuggled as "Black Chicken" eggs during Prohibition-era Napa, now bottled from one of the valley's most storied vineyards.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Zinfandel from the renowned Moore Vineyard in Coombsville, Napa Valley, California.
Taste Profile: Ripe blackberry, raspberry and black cherry on the nose, with hints of vanilla and spice from oak ageing. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with black fruit, licorice and dark chocolate carried by firm, grippy tannins that give the wine structure and balance.
Winemaking Process: Aged in oak to layer in structure and spice while preserving the fruit-forward character the variety is known for.
Winemaker: The Biale family, immigrants from Northern Italy, began growing Zinfandel on their Napa ranch in the 1930s. During Prohibition, 14-year-old Aldo Biale helped his mother sell the family's homemade Zinfandel under the code name "Black Chicken" — Gallina Nera — to keep nosy neighbours and the authorities in the dark. In 1991, Aldo and his son Robert partnered with Dave Pramuk to found Robert Biale Vineyards, dedicated to farming Napa's oldest Zinfandel vines; Black Chicken remains the winery's flagship today.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
