A single Perdriel vineyard, surrounded by the winery itself, used to show exactly what Luján de Cuyo's old riverbed soils can do with Malbec.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Malbec from the Jamilla vineyard, part of Casarena's Single Vineyard collection showcasing the soil diversity of Luján de Cuyo. The vineyard surrounds the Casarena winery building itself in Perdriel, at 940 metres above sea level, with vines first planted in 1995. Its soils were once part of the Mendoza River bed, layered with clay-loam over gravel and boulders of varying sizes — a profile that gives the vineyard excellent natural drainage.
Taste Profile: Deep yet bright purple-red in colour. Red plum and cherry aromas fill the nose, with subtle floral and tobacco layers following. The palate is fresh and medium to full-bodied, with a light texture, fine tannins and bright acidity, delivering a strong concentration of red plum, cherry and raspberry fruit alongside tobacco, vanilla spice and subtle molasses notes. Ageing potential of 15+ years.
Winemaking Process: Following hand harvest, the grapes go through a double hand selection process before careful destemming and cold maceration with whole berries. Natural alcoholic fermentation begins at low temperatures to preserve maximum aromatic expression, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels, where the wine matures for 12 months before natural clarification and bottling.
Winemaker: Casarena began in 2007, when the current team refurbished a century-old family winery building — first raised in 1937 — in the heart of Perdriel, just twenty minutes from Mendoza city. The name fuses "casa" and "arena," a nod to the sand-coloured stone winery and the sandy soils it sits on. Casarena farms multiple distinct estates across Luján de Cuyo, each with its own altitude, orientation and soil profile, giving its agroenological team a living laboratory for showing how differently the same grape can speak depending on exactly where it's grown.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
