Sitting alongside Lafite, DRC, Rousseau, Vega Sicilia and Grange, the Hommage à Jacques Perrin is one of the world's genuinely elite bottlings — and it's only made when a vintage deserves it.
Château de Beaucastel is a magical place, surrounded by hills planted with vines, hundred-year-old olive trees and truffle oaks. Ancient vines with knotted roots are trained in the traditional gobelet style in the region's signature soil, laid thick with large round pebbles. When the Mistral blows down the Rhône Valley, it cools the vines and carries in the scent of garrigue. It's on these ancestral soils, home to all 13 grape varieties permitted in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, that each new vintage of Beaucastel is born.
Grape Varietals & Region: A Mourvèdre-led blend from old vines at Château de Beaucastel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône Valley, France. Mourvèdre gives the wine its backbone and its ageing potential — the variety needs heat and patience to ripen fully, both of which Beaucastel's pebble-strewn plots supply in abundance.
Taste Profile: The nose is gorgeous — red fruits, blackberries, redcurrants, figs, black pepper and spice. The palate is round and lush, full of flesh and intensity, backed by a graphite spine, with blue fruit, porcini mushroom, black truffle and Mourvèdre's characteristic meatiness. Long and round, with intense tannins that are already soft but built to hold the wine for the next 20 to 30 years.
Winemaking Process: Aged entirely in large old foudres rather than small new-oak barrels, for 12 to 18 months — a deliberately old-fashioned choice that keeps the wood invisible and lets the fruit and the site do the talking. Hommage à Jacques Perrin is made only in the estate's finest vintages, in tiny volumes of around 400 to 425 cases.
Winemaker: Hommage à Jacques Perrin is a tribute to Jacques Perrin, the visionary who ran Beaucastel through much of the 20th century. He was the first to replant all 13 authorised Châteauneuf-du-Pape varieties on the estate, and decades before it was fashionable, he pulled the vineyard out of chemical farming entirely — organic from 1950, biodynamic from 1974, at a time when both were considered eccentric at best. Jacques passed away in 1978; his sons Jean-Pierre and François Perrin created this cuvée in his honour in 1989, releasing it only in the vintages they judge worthy of his name. The estate is now in its fourth and fifth generations of Perrins.

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
