A woman bought this estate in secret from a Florentine noblewoman in 1969, and kept her name on the label ever since.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Sangiovese, from plots at the highest elevations of the Chianti Classico appellation, Tuscany, Italy, at 480 metres altitude on limestone, rock and clay soils. These high plots see the earliest bud breaks and the latest harvest of the estate's vineyards, and this Gran Selezione is made only in the best vintages, from the best Sangiovese the estate can find.
Taste Profile: A brilliant ruby red colour. A haunting bouquet of blackberries and savoury earth notes — mint and balsamic — lingers endlessly from the glass. Dry and full-bodied on the palate, with impressive complexity, good structure and a balance of elegant tannins and vivid acidity. A succulent, rich kaleidoscope of flavours runs from ripe dark cherries, blackberries and black plum to lifted, spicy oak nuances of cedar wood and rolled tobacco leaf, closing on an extremely persistent finish.
Winemaking Process: After harvest, the grapes go through vinification and fermentation in open-topped wooden vats, which let the wine breathe slowly as it ferments. The wine ages for 3 years in 100HL oak barrels, then a further year in bottle before release.
Winemaker: Casa Emma was founded in 1969, when Fiorella Lepri bought the property from a Florentine noblewoman named Emma Bizzarri — without telling her husband or family beforehand — and kept the estate's name intact as a tribute to the courage it took. The estate, now run by the Bucalossi family across 28 hectares of vineyard and 1,000 olive trees, farms with a strong focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
