Trail Estate Juicy Red 2023
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Marquette, Viognier, Gewurztraminer & Cabernet Franc from a collection of vineyards in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada
Taste Profile: Bright sour cherry candies with tart citrus notes on the nose. On the palate this wine has light herbaceous flavours interlaced with sweet grape popsicles. Where serious meets light and fun, we find this wine the perfect combo, walking the line between classic and natural. A very juicy 'red!
Winemaking Process: Marquette from the organic vineyard, Appletop was put into bin and dosed with carbon dioxide and a pied de cuve (natural yeast) to get this started in the vineyard, prior to travel to Trail Estate. The Gewürztraminer was fermented using carbonic maceration, while the viognier was pressed whole cluster. Cabernet Franc from 2021 was blended in to this wine to create depth and balance out the acidity of the Marquette. The Cabernet Franc was destemmed and fermented with punchdowns until dryness, aged in neutral French oak for 9 months.
