Weingut Jakob Jung Erbach Siegelsberg Riesling Grosses Gewachs Trocken 2021
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from Rheingau, Germany. Classified VDP.Grosse Lage, Siegelsberg consists of deep loess loams, with the last traces of Rhine slate in the topsoil. This is why these wines have an outstanding minerality, a lot of complexity and longevity.
The name "Siegelsberg" is said to have come from a document, i.e. with "letter and seal". The south-facing slope with a gradient of 16 percent at a height of 100 meters above sea level is particularly impressive due to its wind-protected location. Due to the optimal sunlight, the vines in Siegelsberg bloom very early. The result is perfectly ripe grapes.
Taste Profile: A great fruity peach and slightly herbal, chalky notes give the Grosses Gewachs structure and grip and a lot of complexity. A really strong GG from the house of Jung!
Winemaking Process: Selected fruit is hand harvested, destemmed & crushed for several hours before pressing. Spontaneous fermentation & aging in stainless steel tank. After long maturation on lees, for about a year, it is bottled
