Description

J.B. Becker Wallufer Walkenberg Riesling Kabinett Trocken Alte Reben 2014

Harvested from the oldest vines in the Walkenberg, organic farming. The vines are 40 years and older. Spontaneous fermentation, aging only in large wooden barrels. A very grapey nose, but in the old vines even more melting, even more fine sweetness over the great freshness and liveliness.

Fresh grape, white peach and waxed lemon, ripe and calm. Underneath lurks the dark minerality of the Walkenberg, almost volcanic, flint, but above that also light limestone elements. Exuding great elegance and deliciousness. The acidity, of course, is absolutely present, vibrant, racy, salty all over the tongue, rolling up and down, gripping, lingering, but not at all rustic.

Subtle honey notes, a bit of yeast plait and caramel. Then lots of lemongrass and mineral trailing charges of tannins reminiscent of flint on the finish. Already a power piece, but without becoming bulky, it remains lean and above all infinitely chic and refined. Extremely mineral, bluntly direct and citrusy in presence
