Domaine Dirler-Cadé Crémant d'Alsace Brut Nature 2022
Alsace's forgotten sparkling pioneers, back at it: Dirler-Cadé revived their 19th-century fizz tradition in 2005, and this one skips the dosage entirely.
Grape Varietals & Region: A traditional-method Crémant d'Alsace built from the estate's classic sparkling base of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, grown across Dirler-Cadé's 18 biodynamic hectares in Bergholtz, on the same eroded Buntsandstein sandstone that runs beneath the domaine's four Grand Crus. The Dirler family — together with Dopff in Riquewihr — were genuine pioneers of Alsatian sparkling wine back in the 19th century, though the practice lapsed for nearly 60 years before Jean and Ludivine Dirler revived it with the 2005 vintage.
Taste Profile: Zero dosage means nothing to hide behind — juicy apple, white blossom and a whisper of fennel seed sit over a chalky, wet-stone minerality, with racy acidity and a fine, persistent mousse. A toasty, creamy complexity from time on lees keeps it from feeling austere. Good with oysters, or just on its own, cold, before anything else happens.
Winemaking Process: Made méthode traditionnelle — base wine, secondary fermentation and lees ageing in bottle — from hand-harvested, fully biodynamic fruit (Biodyvin-certified, in conversion since 1998), finished with zero dosage at disgorgement.
Winemaker: Jean and Ludivine Dirler run the fifth-generation estate today, following a path Jean and his father Jean-Pierre set after a 1996/97 internship with biodynamic pioneer François Bouchet convinced them it was the only way to get real terroir expression out of Alsace's sandstone soils. "When it is 40 years old you think it is Chardonnay," Jean has said of the estate's old Muscat — a sense of patience and terroir-first thinking that carries through everything they make, bubbles included.

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
