Oxer "Marko Terlegiz" DO Bizkaiko Txakolina 2021
Named for the neighbourhood where Oxer's father was born, Terlegiz means "sanctuary for bees" in Basque — and this txakoli is built to outlive most Riojas.
Grape Varietals & Region: 35% Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia (Petit Courbu), 35% Hondarribi Zuri (Gros Courbu) and 30% Izkiriota Txikia (Petit Manseng), from a vineyard in Kortezubi, a small Bizkaia town famous for its Unesco-listed prehistoric caves. The clay-loam topsoil sits over limestone with patches of schist, giving the wine its mineral spine.
Taste Profile: Edgy, crunchy and intensely mineral. An expressive, complex nose of lemon citrus and oyster shell over quince and roasted apple; grapefruit, umami and salty limestone crash into the palate, with grippy tannins and mature acidity woven tight — an age-worthy style built to keep for decades.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are strictly selected before a 100% foudre fermentation using indigenous yeast; the wine then rests on its lees for a minimum of six months.
Winemaker: Oxer Bastegieta's first wine, back in 1999, was a txakoli made at his father's request for the family restaurant in this very neighbourhood — Terlegiz. Two decades on he still works this small corner of Bizkaia alongside his Rioja Alavesa vineyards, treating Txakoli not as a rustic side project but as a serious, age-worthy white in its own right.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
