Domaine des Dieux "Petit Rose" 2022
A Provence-style rose from South Africa's first Cap Classique house, built the classic way — saignee, neutral oak, careful blending.
Grape varietal & region: 50% Mourvedre, 33% Grenache and 17% Syrah from Domaine des Dieux and a neighbouring farm on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, in the foothills of the Babylonstoren mountain range near Hermanus on South Africa's Cape South Coast. Sharon Parnell and Peter Clarke bought this 28-hectare sheep farm in 2002 to chase a passion for Champagne-method sparkling wine, and Domaine des Dieux became the region's first Cap Classique producer, with a maiden cuvee in 2006. The farm is now run day-to-day by Sharon's daughter Megan Mullis, with viticulture overseen by her husband Shane Mullis.
Taste profile: Turkish delight, strawberry and rose petal on the nose, with an unexpected savoury edge of smoked salmon and dried apricot. Full-flavoured for a rose, with gentle structure from its time in wood and a crisp, dry finish. Elegant salmon-pink in the glass — versatile enough to drink alone or alongside a full dinner.
Winemaking process: each variety is picked and pressed separately, with colour extracted via the saignee method rather than extended skin contact — lightly pressed, minimal contact. The components age separately in neutral French oak before final blending.
Winemaker: Domaine des Dieux built its reputation on Cap Classique before branching into still wines in 2007, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as the estate's main focus — Petit Rose is very much the Provence-leaning outlier in the range, a nod to the classic southern French style rather than the Burgundian one the estate is best known for.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
