Panagiotopoulos Malagousia Biodynamic 2023
A grape that nearly went extinct in Greece, farmed biodynamically in one of the Peloponnese's most historic wine corners.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Malagousia, farmed biodynamically on the Panagiotopoulos estate in Messinia, in the southwest Peloponnese, Greece. Malagousia was rescued from near-total disappearance in Greek vineyards in the late 20th century by a handful of committed growers, and remains something of a comeback story wherever it's planted with care.
Taste Profile: A bright colour with a yellow hue. A fruity basket of bright, citrusy notes fills the nose. Structured and rich yet easy on the palate, pleasant and drinkable, with a hint of mineral and floral notes carrying through to a long, generous finish. Best enjoyed at 8–10°C with Mediterranean or Oriental cuisine.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are hand-harvested from the estate between early September and mid-October during morning hours, sorted on-site, destemmed, crushed and gently pressed in membrane presses. A pre-fermentation maceration keeps the must in contact with the skins for 12 hours at low temperature under carbon dioxide, extracting the compounds that shape the wine's aroma and flavour. Alcoholic fermentation runs 15–20 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel, with temperature tailored to best express this variety's character.
Winemaker: Panagiotopoulos Wines began in 1982, when Dimitris Panagiotopoulos, after years working at another winery, decided to build his own alongside his father — a viticulturist — and other partners in Messinia, in the southwest Peloponnese. The winery building itself wasn't completed until 2005, and the estate farms organically at 400 metres altitude, growing both indigenous and international varieties across a landscape with a long, largely under-sung history in Greek winemaking.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
