Tornatore Etna Bianco DOC Contrada Pietrarizzo 2022
A volcanic white from the same north-Etna cru the Tornatore family has farmed since 1865.
Grape Varietals & Region: Carricante with a small percentage of Catarratto, from Tornatore's terraced vineyards in Castiglione di Sicilia on the northern side of Mount Etna, growing in deep, fertile volcanic soils. Mild temperatures from the neighbouring Nebrodi mountains create a late-maturing environment, with the vineyard's altitude driving strong thermal swings.
Taste Profile: A rich and pleasant nose of grapefruit and white peaches. Savoury, fresh and fruit-forward on the medium-bodied palate, beautifully complemented by an extraordinary minerality and a light sweetness on the finish.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested in small crates and quickly brought to the winery for manual selection on a conveyor belt. The fruit is destemmed and lightly crushed before gentle pressing, then clarified at low temperatures and fermented at 15–16°C in 50-hectolitre wooden barrels. The wine rests on lees for 5 months before bottling, followed by 3 months of bottle ageing.
Winemaker: Tornatore's family has farmed Etna's northern slopes since 1865, when Francesco Tornatore's great-grandfather founded the estate; his grandfather Giuseppe expanded it in 1910. Francesco Tornatore relaunched the winery in 2010 alongside his wife Nina Puglisi, and it now farms the largest extension of vineyards in the Etna DOC.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
