Château Purcari Roșu de Purcari 2018
A wine once served at the tables of Tsar Nicholas II, King George V and Queen Victoria, still made a stone's throw from the Black Sea.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 15% Malbec, grown in estate vineyards close to the Black Sea in Moldova. Purcari's château-style estate near the village of the same name has been producing wine since long before the modern DOP system existed — the site's winemaking roots trace back to 1560, when it was granted to a monastery, though the winery itself was formally established by imperial decree in 1827 as Bessarabia's first specialised winery.
Taste Profile: Brick red in colour. Complex aromas of forest fruit, cranberry and dried plum open into delicate sweet nuances of vanilla. The full palate is refined, with a depth and smoothness that carries through a long finish.
Winemaking Process: Careful hand harvesting and selection of the fruit, made using traditional methods, then aged 18 months in French oak barrique.
Winemaker: Roșu de Purcari's reputation was built well before modern branding existed: the estate's Negru de Purcari became the first Moldovan wine to win an award at an international exhibition, taking gold at the 1878 Paris World Exhibition, and the wines went on to become part of royal protocol at the tables of Tsar Nicholas II, King George V and Queen Victoria. That imperial pedigree — the estate was recognised by decree of Russian Emperor Nicholas I in 1827 — still underpins the château's approach to this blend today.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
