Panagiotopoulos Stony Lane Kalderimi Red 2016
A Peloponnese red that borrows Rioja's grape and Châteauneuf's grape and makes them speak Greek.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Grenache Rouge, hand-harvested from the Panagiotopoulos estate in Messinia, in the southwest Peloponnese, Greece, from the beginning of September through mid-October. The grapes are sorted on-site and moved to the winery in small 17kg bins before temperatures rise, minimising bruising and preserving freshness.
Taste Profile: A sweet, seductive nose of black fruits on opening. Fruity notes are enhanced on the palate and accompanied by spicy tones that add extra layers to the bouquet. Well-balanced, with good structure and velvety tannins, finishing supple and long-lasting. Best enjoyed at 16–18°C with pasta, red meat dishes or hearty cheeses.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are sorted again on arrival, then destemmed, crushed and moved to the fermentors via conveyor belt or small tanks, avoiding pumps that could tear the skins. A pre-fermentation cold maceration extracts aromatic compounds and colour before the juice separates from the pomace. After 4–10 days, the temperature is raised to 22–28°C to trigger alcoholic fermentation, which runs about a week, followed by another 1–3 weeks of skin contact.
Winemaker: Panagiotopoulos Wines began in 1982, when Dimitris Panagiotopoulos, after years working at another winery, decided to build his own alongside his father — a viticulturist — and other partners in Messinia, in the southwest Peloponnese. The winery building itself wasn't completed until 2005, and the estate farms organically at 400 metres altitude, growing both indigenous and international varieties across a landscape with a long, largely under-sung history in Greek winemaking.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
