An elegant, chillable Bordeaux blend born from a Johannesburg couple’s leap into the Stellenbosch winelands.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 49% Malbec, 20% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on De Toren’s 22-hectare estate in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, South Africa — a site overlooking False Bay that founder Emil den Dulk once called “a little piece of heaven.” Unlike the estate’s more powerful Bordeaux blends, Delicate is built to be lighter and more approachable, best enjoyed with a slight chill.
Taste Profile: Redolent of roses and ripe strawberries, with a soft dusting of cinnamon. Medium-bodied and gentle, offering juicy red fruit wrapped in velvety, vanilla-laced tannins that finish clean and refreshing. Equally at home as an apéritif or alongside Spanish tapas, charcuterie, or a platter of matured cheese.
Winemaking Process: Fermented and finished in stainless steel to preserve its fresh, fruit-forward character rather than layering on oak — a deliberately lighter-touch approach than the estate’s flagship Fusion V, designed for early, chilled drinking.
Winemaker: Emil and Sonette den Dulk left Johannesburg in 1991 in search of the Cape winelands, eventually settling on a hillside site in the Polkadraai Hills that Emil described as “a little piece of heaven.” With guidance from viticulturists at the University of Stellenbosch, Emil set out to create South Africa’s first five-varietal Bordeaux blend — the estate’s flagship Fusion V — and De Toren takes its name from the tower-shaped, gravity-flow winery he built to make it.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
