Willi Schaefer Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese 2023
A real peach bomb supported by lemon and lime citrus — from a family whose Graach roots go back five hundred years.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling sourced from Willi Schaefer’s Himmelreich vineyard. The name Himmelreich, or “kingdom of heaven,” likely comes from the site’s south-to-southwest exposure. Deep clayey slate soil, the cool Mosel climate and near-perfect sun exposure make it a paradise for Riesling.
Taste Profile: Pale yellow with a green tint. The crisp bouquet opens with citrus, pear and floral notes. Dominant peach flavours give way to layers of green apple, lemon zest, minerals, mango and melon for a tropical touch. A weightless mouthfeel balances intense acidity and sweetness, closing in an exceptionally long, dry finish.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested, gently pressed whole-cluster, then spontaneously fermented and aged in old Fuder barrels.
Winemaker: The Schaefer family has tended vines in Graach since the 12th century, with records dating to 1590. Willi and Martha Schaefer founded the estate in its modern form after the Second World War, and Willi took over winemaking in 1971, building its reputation for pure, precise Mosel Riesling. In 2015 he handed the reins fully to his son Christoph, who now runs the estate’s 4.2 hectares — spread across the steep slopes of Domprobst, Himmelreich and Wehlener Sonnenuhr — together with his wife Andrea.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
