Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinotage, from one of the oldest commercial Pinotage vineyards in the world, planted in 1953, on the Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch, South Africa. The Bellevue Estate in Stellenbosch is the oldest commercial producer of Pinotage in South Africa, having produced both the country's first bottled and award-winning Pinotage. Bellevue made history in 1953 by planting one of South Africa's first Pinotage vineyards.
Taste Profile: Layered with black cherry, plum, and subtle dark chocolate richness, framed by smoky oak and a touch of earthy spice — bold, yet beautifully balanced, with supple tannins and a long, smooth finish. The hallmark Pinotage edge, a whiff of smoke and wild herbs, adds intrigue. Tasting blind against other top South African Pinotage benchmarks, critic Greg Sherwood noted the wine showed deep, dark, and earthy aromatics packed with bramble berry fruits, sappy spice, red currant compote, and potpourri herbal notes with a brûléed edge, with a palate that's big and intense, concentrated, pithy, and spicy, carrying ruby grapefruit, pomegranate, Turkish delight, and cranberry compote on the finish, with an interesting youthful bitterness adding to the intrigue — certainly a very serious Pinotage. A worthy winner of a 5-star rating from South Africa's revered Platter's Wine Guide. Superb with flame-grilled meats, game, or mushroom risotto.
Winemaking Process: Bellevue's old-vine Cinsault and Pinotage are rightly celebrated for their precision and quality. When the maiden 1959 vintage of this vineyard's fruit won trophies galore, Pieter Krige Morkel was crowned South Africa's new "king of wine" — that hands-off approach is replicated today by winemaker Wilhelm Kritzinger, who lets the grace and wisdom of the old vine vineyard shine through. A traditional approach of small-batch fermentation followed by gentle oak maturation preserves the purity and elegance of fruit from this historic single block

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
