Grape Varietals & Region: 40% Touriga Nacional, 40% Touriga Francesa, 10% Tinta Roriz, 10% Tinto Cao from the Douro Valley, Portugal

Taste Profile: An accessible young LBV that is ready to drink now and continue developing for some years. Deep rich ruby color with intense nose of crushed berries and red fruits. Rich and elegant on the palate with spice, raisins and red fruit flavours. Lovely balanced with a velvety but firm tannic structure that's leads to a luscious long finish. ldeally served as an accompaniment to cheese, dessert, or on its own at the end of a meal.

Winemaking Process: Grapes are trodden by foot and fermented in lagares under temperature control. It ages for 5 years in old wooden vats before bottling

Caramelized & Nutty Desserts

These wines are often aged oxidatively and show developed characteristics of rich caramel, cream and a range of nutty aromas. Sweetness levels can vary.

Many of these wines are made from dried grapes, and are often fortified or solera aged. Often viscous in texture, they classically have notes of almonds, coffee, and marmalade. Some styles may have a "cooked" tinge to it due to being aged in warm conditions

Fortification

Fortified wines are wines which have alcohol added to them, usually in the form of a neutral grape spirit like brandy. This was originally done to extend the longevity of wines, for the purpose of long journeys such as a the sailing routes of the East India Company

These styles are often sweeter as the fortification arrests fermentation early.
