L.A.S. Vino Sun On Your Skin Chardonnay 2019
Nic Peterkin got bored tasting 200 nearly-identical Margaret River Chardonnays made the same way, so he did the opposite: skin contact, a technique usually reserved for red wine.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chardonnay, hand-picked from a single vineyard in the Willyabrup valley, Margaret River — dry-grown, Gin Gin clone, 30-year-old vines.
Taste Profile: Full, smooth and easy-drinking, with honey, peach and cooked pear — almost like warm apple pie with honey and cream. A genuinely unique expression of Chardonnay for the region.
Winemaking Process: Fruit was chilled overnight, then sorted by bunch and berry. Whole berries were fermented naturally on their skins, with juice drained off to barrique in staggered lots at 10, 20 and 35 days of skin contact — only 6 barrels made in total. The wine underwent partial malolactic fermentation and matured in oak for 14 months before blending and bottling.
Winemaker: Nic Peterkin is the grandson of Diana and Kevin Cullen (Cullen Wines) and son of Mike Peterkin (Pierro). After an oenology master's from the University of Adelaide and vintages abroad as a flying winemaker, he founded L.A.S. Vino in 2013 — Luck, Art, Science — aiming to be "the best at being different." He was named 2016 Gourmet Traveller Young Winemaker of the Year and the Halliday Wine Companion's 2023 Dark Horse of the Year.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
