Stolpman Vineyards Estate Syrah 2019
The flagship wine of Ballard Canyon, built from vines planted before the appellation even had a name.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Syrah, including the oldest "original" vines in Ballard Canyon planted throughout the 1990s, alongside mature high-density, own-rooted vineyards planted in the 2000s and some of Stolpman's newest pre-clonal massal-selection Syrah. Ballard Canyon sees cold nights and a short window of daytime warmth between Pacific fog and cool wind; the limestone subsoil lifts natural acidity, while vineyard manager Ruben Solorzano's refusal to irrigate through the dry growing season lends real concentration.
Taste Profile: Dense, almost black at the centre with a cherry-red rim. Delicate red fruit and a hint of tar open the nose. Fleshy on the full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and bright acidity, fresh boysenberry, red cherry and raspberry flavours backed by dried herbs, smoke and cedar.
Winemaking Process: 50% whole-cluster fermentation in concrete, followed by 10 months in 100% neutral French oak.
Winemaker: Stolpman Vineyards has long treated Estate Syrah as its flagship, planted and shaped over three decades by the Stolpman family and vineyard manager Ruben Solorzano, who has tended these Ballard Canyon vines since 1994.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
