For purists, there is nothing like the Saar. It is arguably one of the greatest, most unique wine-growing regions on earth. The core of greatness in the Saar is intensity without weight, grandiosity without size.
Florian’s general style is exactly the opposite of his famous Saar neighbor Egon Müller. At Lauer, the focus is on dry-tasting Rieslings as opposed to the residual sugar wines of the latter. When the vintage allows it, Florian will craft Prädikat wines, the Kabinetts, Spätlesen and Auslesen that we all know and once loved
Employing natural-yeast fermentations, Lauer’s wines find their own balance. They tend to be more textural, deeper and more broad-shouldered. Yet they have a preternatural sense of balance, an energy that is singular. Yet the hallmarks of the Saar are there: purity, precision, rigor, mineral.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from the Saar, Germany. Since 1984, Peter Lauer has been producing their Riesling sparkling wine in the cellar of the historic Joh. Förster winery in Trier-Süd. Below this Art Nouveau building, there is an extensive multi-story cellar. Those rooms are ideal for maturing sparkling wine using the Champagne method. Second fermentation in bottle and riddling by hand. The Crémant from Lauer mature at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius in dark-vaulted rooms
Taste Profile: What a dark, smoky and minerally sparkling wine. Somehow light, intense, creamy and vibrant, this squares the circle of sparkling riesling. Fantastic creamy texture in spite of the high natural acidity. Super-long steely and slatey finish

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
