Proof that a "boring" grape just needed the right person to believe in it — old vines, granite soil, and a first-generation winemaker on a mission.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Colombard, grown organically and naturally, from a vineyard planted in 1986 on the Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch, South Africa. Two special dry-farmed plots are perched on top of a granite hill, with soil typical to the area — rich in granite over a deep seam of well-drained clay, with excavated granite boulders surrounding the vines and framing a view of Table Mountain in the distance. A breeze from False Bay cools the grapes in summer, allowing them to mature slowly and evenly while preserving natural acidity.
Taste Profile: Tropical fruits and citrus, with plenty of texture — the finish is pleasantly long and refreshing. The nose shows top notes of grass and thatch before guava, peach, and apple, while the palate shows fruit that's sweet and dense, balanced against tangy acidity, with the finish carrying a gently savoury, slightly peppery quality. Rated 91pts. As one retailer puts it, this is one of the best expressions of Colombard tasted — far from the "ordinary" reputation often associated with the grape. A great match for summer salads, grilled white meats, or fish.
Winemaking Process: Grapes undergo eight hours of maceration before pressing, then inoculation with a pied de cuve — a naturally cultivated fermentation starter from the vineyard itself. When the peak of fermentation has passed, the wine is transferred to used oak barrels, where it ferments through to dryness, then rests in 400- and 500-litre French oak barrels for seven months before bottling with only a small SO2 addition. Kayleigh makes wine with minimal intervention — no alterations or adjustments

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
