Description
Weinhof Szemes Blaufränkisch Imperial Mittelburgenland DAC Reserve 2017
Weinhof Szemes Blaufränkisch Imperial Reserve is a compact wine with a strong colour and complex bouquet. The nose opens with cranberries, juniper and a hint of herbs. The full-bodied and dense palate has considerable depth, firm structure, close-meshed and fine tannins. Juicy blackberry, cranberry and blood orange flavours with a hint of woody tones last long into its elegant finish.
100% Blaufränkisch. Only the best grapes from vines that grow in the mica schist soils of central Burgenland (Mittelburgenland) come into question for the Blaufränkisch Reserve. At 470 metres altitude, the vineyards for this wine are among the highest in Burgenland.
Selective manual harvest for perfectly ripe fruit. Fermentation and then storage on fine lees for 14 months in partly new 500L wooden barrels. The wine ages a few months in large barrels before it is drawn directly into the bottle.
