Peter Lauer Faß 13 'Feils' Grosses Gewächs 2022
In ancient times, when a mighty river covered the Saar Valley, the water left behind sand, gravel, and stones. The young Saar River cut its way into its old riverbed and created the steep gravel slope called Saarfeils, which is located on a peninsula and planted with old vines. Feils, a particularly warm site, whose soil is similar to the Médoc, impresses with its opulent flavor of fresh herbs. Mint, ethereal notes, and exoticism combine to create a unique dry Saar Riesling.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from Fiels. These vines are deeply rooted, perpendicular to the groundwater without hitting rock. Averaging 65 years, they are grown on slate soils.
Taste Profile: Mint, ethereal notes, and exoticism combine to create a unique dry Saar Riesling.
Winemaking Process: Whole bunch pressing, followed by maceration with wild yeast & spontaneous fermentation. On lees ageing in larged wooden barrels for 5 months
