Anatolikos Vineyards "Fine" Assyrtiko 2022
Two brothers reopened a 2,000-year-old wine region on Greece's Thracian coast after their restaurant didn't survive the financial crisis.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Assyrtiko from vineyards in the village of Avdira, in the Thrace region of northeastern Greece. The vines grow in sandy hills over stony subsoil, 3km from the sea, in a Mediterranean climate cooled by steady east winds and moderate temperatures.
Taste Profile: Gold and blonde in colour with green highlights. Elegant vanilla and butter aromas layer with a complex bouquet of citrus, quince, honeycomb and yellow fruit. Rich on the palate, with balanced acidity carrying through a persistent finish.
Winemaking Process: Hand-harvested in late September, with pre-fermentation cold extraction and a long, temperature-controlled fermentation using native yeasts in stainless steel. The wine matures on its lees for 6 months in French oak before bottling, unfiltered.
Winemaker: Brothers Sakis and Marios Nikolaidis, from nearby Xanthi, first got into wine after opening a fine-dining restaurant that didn't survive the 2009 financial crisis — so they turned it into a winery instead, formally founding Anatolikos in 2005 on a site they'd begun replanting in 2000. Thrace has grown wine since antiquity, prized for its indigenous yeasts, and the brothers built the estate around reviving exactly that tradition, farming everything organically from day one.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
