La Brune Pinot Noir 2024
One of the fastest-rising Elgin producers, making a beautifully bolder style of Pinot.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from Elgin, South Africa — a cool-climate valley whose altitude and maritime influence increasingly draw comparisons to Burgundy.
Taste Profile: Perfumed, with flavours of orange peel and strawberry, this elegant Pinot Noir carries notes of forest floor and mushroom over a mineral core, coated in beautiful texture and red fruit, closing on a long, pure finish.
Winemaking Process: 40% whole-bunch fermented, with a 20-day cold soak before fermentation begins. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in small open fermenters, with one to two punch-downs a day at temperatures around 28–32°C. After soft pressing, the wine settles for a week before going to barrel: 12 months in 300L "untoasted" barrels, 60% new, the rest second- and third-fill, made from Bourgogne oak. The barrels are custom-made for La Brune by Nico and Bruno Lorenzon.
Winemaker: La Brune was founded in 2011 by Nico Grobler and his wife Christelle — initially a side project while Nico, an award-winning winemaker with 15 years' experience, worked full-time at Eikendal in Stellenbosch. Repeated trips to Burgundy, and a close friendship with winemaker Bruno Lorenzon in Mercurey, drew Nico toward Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; a decade later, he and Christelle moved with their two daughters to Elgin to focus on La Brune full-time, chasing the naturally fresh, lifted style that first pulled Nico toward Burgundy.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
