Made from a Chinese hybrid grape bred in the 1950s specifically to survive winters that would kill any European vine.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Beichun, a cross between the wild mountain grape Vitis amurensis (native to Jilin province, north of North Korea) and Muscat Hamburg, grown on 26-year-old, south-facing vines at 650m above sea level on alluvial Gobi gravel, sand and silt soils in Turpan Valley, Xinjiang, China. The vines are watered naturally by Tian Shan Mountain snowmelt, channelled pure and untouched through the ancient underground Karez system.
Taste Profile: Deep ruby colour with a light purple hue. An attractive aroma dominated by red fruit and rose, followed by vanilla and cinnamon spice. Silky and consistent texture on the palate, with notes of ripe red fruit, dried raspberry and a touch of wolfberry, finishing soft with good balance of acidity. Ready to drink now through 15 years.
Winemaking Process: 15 days of post-fermentation maceration, with 50% of the wine aged in 2nd- and 3rd-fill French oak barrels and 50% in tank, then blended and filtered before bottling.
Winemaker: Puchang traces back to 1975 as the state-run Turpan Wine Factory, before Hong Kong businessman K.K. Cheung purchased and restructured the estate in 2008, renaming it Puchang Vineyard. Committed to organic viticulture in one of the world's most extreme wine-growing climates, Cheung set out to change global perceptions of what Chinese wine could be, drawing on Turpan's ancient Karez underground water system and ferociously dry desert air to farm largely pest-free.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
