The Moldovan wine that fooled French judges into thinking it came from Bordeaux.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Fetească Neagră, a noble grape with pronounced individuality, from Chateau Purcari's vineyards near the village of Purcari in Moldova's Ștefan Vodă region, where soil and climate share similarities with Bordeaux.
Taste Profile: A deep ruby colour with aromas of red berries and a juicy core, tasting of plums and blackberries. A balance of warm flavours with firm tannins gives way to a velvety, complex texture with notes of berries and dried cherries, spiced with notes that sharpen the senses.
Winemaking Process: Vinified using traditional fermentation alongside innovative technology, then matured in French oak barrels for 1 year.
Winemaker: Chateau Purcari was founded in 1827 by imperial decree as the first specialised winery in Bessarabia, established near the village of Purcari by Frenchman M. Betier and German M. Harmizone, who modelled the estate on the châteaux of Bordeaux. Purcari's Negru de Purcari won gold at the 1847 Bessarabian Agricultural Fair and again at the 1878 Paris World Exhibition, where French experts were stunned to learn the wine wasn't from Bordeaux at all.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
