For purists, there's nothing quite like the Saar: intensity without weight, grandiosity without size.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from the Scheidterberg vineyard in Ayl, Saar, Germany, a premier cru plot on slate soils with vines averaging 32 years old.
Taste Profile: The southern exposure allows for late ripening and long ageing potential. Delicate smoky spice, floral notes and salted caramel dominate the nose, with a balanced, aromatic Riesling built on a stone-fruit backbone that's already fresh and inviting in its youth.
Winemaking Process: Hand harvested with 50% cold maceration, wild yeast and spontaneous fermentation. The wine sits 2 months on lees before ageing in oak barrel.
Winemaker: Weingut Peter Lauer has farmed the steep slate slopes of Ayl on the Saar since 1830, one of the coolest, most precise corners of the Mosel. Fifth-generation winemaker Florian Lauer took over in 2006 after studying oenology at the École Nationale in Montpellier, France, and has built a reputation for dry-tasting, natural-yeast-fermented Rieslings that stand in deliberate contrast to the sweeter, residual-sugar style of his famous Saar neighbour Egon Müller. Lauer's best sites, including Kupp, Saarfeilser, Schonfels and Scheidterberg, were admitted to the VDP in 2013, and his wines are prized for their purity, precision and singular sense of balance.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
