Bodegas Toro Albalá "Don PX" Pedro Ximénez 2020
A small grower's idea to hoard his best wines instead of selling them young turned into a century of liquid patience.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pedro Ximénez, sourced 30% from Toro Albalá's own vineyards and 70% from partner growers across Montilla-Moriles in Southern Córdoba, Spain — a region famous for sun-dried, sherry-adjacent sweet wines.
Taste Profile: Thick and luscious, made without oak ageing. Deep amber in colour, opening with exotic fruit and soft, juicy mango on the nose. A lively, tangy freshness balances the oily texture, with concentrated raisin, date and prune flavours layered over warm toffee and caramel.
Winemaking Process: Made from the must of sun-dried grapes, dehydrated into raisins and pressed hydraulically, with partial fermentation followed by the addition of top-quality wine alcohol. The wine rests a minimum of 12 months in stainless steel with no oak ageing and no filtration before bottling.
Winemaker: Toro Albalá was founded in 1922 by José María Toro Albalá, a Córdoba grower whose idea of laying down aged wines as "treasures" rather than selling them young still defines the house nearly a century on. Winemaker and enologist Antonio Sánchez has spent his career here, treating the estate's Pedro Ximénez grapes, in his own words, as if they were his own offspring.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
