ColleMassari Montecucco Rosso Riserva "ColleMassari" DOC 2020
Named after the estate itself, this Riserva is ColleMassari's statement wine for Montecucco — the appellation the Tipa family has helped put on the map.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Ciliegiolo and 10% Montepulciano, hand-harvested at a deliberately low yield (around 5 tonnes per hectare) from a vineyard planted in 1999, 300m up on marl and alluvial soils in Montecucco, southern Tuscany. The vineyard is organically farmed.
Taste Profile: Enthralling ruby-violet colour. Sangiovese's tang leads, with charming ripe cherry and layers of dark fruit, tobacco, and Mediterranean and oak spices. Dense yet soft in structure, with fine tannins and fresh acidity carrying the finish.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation is spontaneous, followed by 3–4 weeks of maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The wine is aged 16 months total — the Sangiovese in 40hl oak casks, the Ciliegiolo and Montepulciano in 500-litre French oak tonneau.
Winemaker: ColleMassari Wine Estates is run by siblings Maria Iris and Claudio Tipa, whose portfolio also includes Grattamacco in Bolgheri, Tenuta San Giorgio in Montalcino, and cult favourite Poggio di Sotto. This Riserva carries the ColleMassari name itself — the estate's flagship statement for the Montecucco appellation.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
