The wine that gives the estate its name — Petra’s flagship blend, created to tell timeless tales with new words.
Grape Varietals & Region: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, grown in estate vineyards with calcareous soils that balance clay and a rocky backbone.
Taste Profile: Ruby red with flashes of garnet. A powerful bouquet of wild blackberries, cassis, black cherry and dark plum, with subtle hints of mint, rosemary, peppercorn and tobacco. Full, elegant and perfectly balanced on the palate, with fresh acidity and velvety tannins closing in a persistent balsamic finish.
Winemaking Process: Grapes undergo a meticulous, non-invasive process to preserve the terroir’s character. Natural fermentation with local yeasts takes place in 100hl tapered oak vats, followed by 18 months in first, second and third-use barriques with a medium-light toast, then a further 18 months in bottle.
Winemaker: Petra’s story began in 1808, when Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi — Napoleon’s sister and Princess of Lucca and Piombino — chose this stretch of Tuscan coast near Suvereto for an agricultural and viticultural project. Nearly two centuries later, in 1997, Vittorio Moretti acquired the estate together with his daughter Francesca, who left veterinary medicine behind after a father-daughter trip to Bordeaux convinced her to pursue winemaking instead. The estate’s tunnel-shaped cellar, designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, was completed in 2003 — and Petra still describes itself as it has always been run: a women’s company.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
