Founded by the son of Italy's first king, on the estate that started as his father's love nest.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Nebbiolo from vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, one of Barolo's most celebrated communes — the origin of many of the appellation's great crus. The vines sit on medium and upper slopes (300–350m) facing southwest, on Miocene-Helvetian soil rich in limestone and grey marl alternating with sand, a combination that consistently produces Barolos of serious structure and ageing power.
Taste Profile: Garnet red with ruby highlights that turn faintly orange with age. A clear-cut, intense nose of vanilla, spice, withered rose and underbrush, joined by nutmeg, bay leaf, black pepper, red fruit and black liquorice. The palate is dry but soft, full-bodied and velvety, with powerful, harmonious tannins and fresh acidity carrying an unusually long finish.
Winemaking Process: A traditional 12–15 day fermentation in stainless steel vats with a floating cap, at a controlled 30–31°C, followed by a further 30–40 days of skin contact to extract polyphenols and kick off malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages two years in medium and large oak barrels (2,000 to 14,000 litres), plus further time in bottle before release.
Winemaker: Casa E. di Mirafiore was founded in 1878 by Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiore — son of Vittorio Emanuele II, Italy's first king, whose romance with Rosa Vercellana began at this very estate in 1858. Vines were planted from 1864 and Barolo first made around 1870, and by the end of the 1800s the Fontanafredda estate had become Barolo's largest producer, thanks in part to the Count's own efforts promoting the wine abroad. Oscar Farinetti bought back the historic Mirafiore name in 2008, allocating 25 hectares — including the Lazzarito cru and a parcel on the Cannubi hill — to the Casa E. di Mirafiore label specifically.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
