Domaine des Ouled Thaleb Syrocco Syrah 2023
Born when a Rhône winemaking icon stopped his tandem bike mid-holiday for a chat that changed a Moroccan vineyard's course.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Syrah from vines aged 10 to 40 years across just 20 hectares in Morocco's Atlantic-influenced Zenata region, in the lee of the Middle Atlas Mountains at around 500m altitude. Cooling ocean breezes temper the climate, and the vines grow on a mix of red and black clay over limestone and ancient ocean-bed remnants.
Taste Profile: Fruit-forward and old-world in style, with moderate extraction giving warmth and richness in the mouth alongside a cool elegance. Deep ruby red with notes of ripe black fruit and dried cherry, followed by sandalwood, herbs and spice, closing on a dry, long finish.
Winemaking Process: The vines are farmed organically, with no herbicide or fungicide treatments and all vineyard work done by hand to protect the fruit.
Winemaker: Alain Graillot, one of the finest winemakers of the Rhône's Crozes-Hermitage, discovered this project by chance — pedalling his tandem bike through Morocco's cooler mountain reaches on holiday, he stopped for a conversation with oenologist Jacques Poulaine of Domaine des Ouled Thaleb. Poulaine showed him sites in the Zenata region where Atlantic breezes tempered the local climate, and Graillot immediately saw the potential for scented, juicy Syrah — bringing his old-world technique to a genuinely new corner of the wine world.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
