A field blend of rare native Galician reds off vines up to a century old, grown on granite, sand and schist above the River Sil canyon.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend led by Mencía (77%) with Garnacha Tintorera (15%) and a mix of other varieties including Merenzao and some white grapes, from vines ranging 50 to over 100 years old on granite, sand and schist soils in Ribeira Sacra, Galicia. Silice Viticultores was founded in Sober (Lugo) by brothers Juan and Carlos Rodríguez alongside Priorat winemaker Fredi Torres, with their first vintage released in 2013 — built around genuinely artisanal, low-intervention winemaking from Ribeira Sacra's steep, vertigo-inducing terraces above the River Sil.
Taste Profile: Aromatic, perfumed and floral on the nose, with a juicy palate of very fine tannin and balsamic notes of wild berries and herbs — elegant rather than powerful, true to Ribeira Sacra's cooler, more mountainous take on Mencía.
Winemaking Process: Fermented with 30% whole clusters, then matured for 16 months across a mix of stainless steel, concrete and a 2,000-litre oak foudre, all on lees — a deliberately varied approach to vessel that builds texture without leaning on new oak.
Winemaker: Juan and Carlos Rodríguez teamed up with Priorat's Fredi Torres to found Silice Viticultores in Sober, releasing their first vintage in 2013 with the explicit goal of making wine "like those who came before" — as minimal and low-intervention as possible, letting Ribeira Sacra's ancient vines and dramatic terraced terrain do the actual work.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
