Meinklang Österreich "Weißer Mulatschak" 2023
Somewhere between a white and an orange wine, made by a family running one of Europe's largest biodynamic farms.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Welschriesling, Pinot Gris and Traminer, grown in mineral-rich volcanic soils on Meinklang's certified biodynamic vineyards in Pamhagen, Austria, on the eastern shore of the Neusiedlersee within the Seewinkel — a Unesco World Heritage-listed landscape bordering Hungary. The vines grow unpruned, and the vineyards are fertilised entirely with compost made on the farm from sheep, cow and horse manure, pomace and green waste.
Taste Profile: Naturally hazy in appearance, with light aromas of peach, rhubarb and grapefruit. Juicy and mouth-watering on the palate, with a tannic texture from skin contact and a soft yeastiness; apricot, golden berry and orange blossom flavours are underpinned by a lovely salty minerality.
Winemaking Process: Each variety macerates on its skins for 5–7 days before spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel. No fining or filtration, and only very low sulphite additions.
Winemaker: Meinklang is run by the Michlits family, who converted to organic farming in the 1980s and achieved full biodynamic certification in 2003; brothers Werner, Hannes and Lukas now split the estate's roughly 2,500 hectares between vines, grain and livestock, with Werner and his wife Angela overseeing the wine. Mulatschak is their more playful, low-intervention side — "mulatschak" being Austrian dialect for a boisterous, spontaneous night out, which is roughly the wine's whole personality.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
