"Crazy head" by name, serious cellar wine by nature — the most age-worthy red Torre dei Beati makes.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Montepulciano grapes, harvested and selected entirely by hand, from organic vineyards in the municipality of Loreto Aprutino, in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy. The wine takes its name from the old, intriguing name of the area where the vineyard is planted — in the Abruzzo dialect, "coccia pazza" means "crazy head" — and is intended to be the best traditional expression of Montepulciano in this land. Repeated harvests, generally three per vintage, are carried out in the plot with the best soil and climate conditions, able to give the fullest-bodied and mature wines.
Taste Profile: Darkly floral, the 2020 Cocciapazza smoulders up with a bouquet of violets and lavender complementing crushed blackberries and hints of blood orange. This is like pure velvet on the palate, elegant and refined, with polished red and blue fruits carried across a core of vibrant acidity. Red plums and citrus linger through the finish, with grippy tannins mingling with a caking of saline minerality. The nose opens with characteristic hints of red fruits, in perfect balance with notes of black pepper, liquorice, chocolate, and tobacco. On the palate it is structured and full, with soft tannins and a pleasantly long, persistent finish. Rated 93+pts by Vinous and 90pts by James Suckling. While quite seductive, this classy rendition demands cellaring — best paired with meat ragù, stewed meats, game, or mature cheeses.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for 30 days. The wine then ages for 20–22 months in mainly new barriques before bottling. The use of wood during the ageing phase helps achieve natural stability, keeping the fruity purity while enriching it with a light, well-balanced spicy complexity

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
