The serious sibling to Ciampoleto — five years of patience rewarded with depth, structure, and real ageing potential.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Sangiovese Grosso, hand-harvested from estate vineyards in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, within the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tuscany, Italy. Directly facing the towering mass of Mount Amiata to the southeast of Montalcino, San Giorgio is situated on the rocky, steep slopes around Castelnuovo dell'Abate, where tempering Mediterranean breezes give the area a favourable climate, above the deep valley of the Orcia river. The unique combination of Montalcino's soils, elevation, and microclimate sets Ugolforte apart, imparting both finesse and intensity.
Taste Profile: An excellent Brunello with notes of dried herbs, minerals, grapefruit, and raw spices. Medium body with fine-grained tannins and a long, juicy finish — drink now or hold. This wine reveals layers of dark red and black berry fruit intertwined with earthy notes of leather, smoke, and dried herbs, underscored by vibrant acidity and firm tannins, with a rich garnet hue and a lingering, harmonious finish imbued with hints of spice. On the nose, often expect flavours of iron, tangerine, or dried rose, sometimes accompanied by berry jam, rose petal, or dried leaves. Best decanted for at least 2 hours, served at around 18°C. Pairs beautifully with red meats, truffles, aged cheeses, or pappardelle al cinghiale (wild boar ragù).
Winemaking Process: Crafted with meticulous care from hand-harvested grapes, with painstaking attention to detail during vinification — including extended maceration and expert oak ageing — to ensure depth and balance. Brunello, a clone of the Sangiovese grape grown only in the Montalcino area, requires a minimum of five years of ageing to be classified as Brunello di Montalcino — significantly more than its Rosso di Montalcino counterpart, resulting in a wine of far greater structure, complexity, and longevity. With its firm tannins and lively acidity, Ugolforte is ideal for cellaring, improving over decades while retaining its vitality

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
