Sartori Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva "Corte Brà" DOCG 2016
The flagship of a 19th-century Verona house, made only in the best years — power, balance, and the patience of a five-year cellar journey.
Grape Varietals & Region: 60% Corvina, 20% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella, and 5% Oseleta, from the historic Corte Brà estate within Valpolicella Classica, Veneto, Italy. The grapes come from the vineyard of the same name, located north of Verona and enclosed within the garden of the seventeenth-century Villa Maria in Negrar. These vineyards, cultivated partly with the traditional Veronese pergola system and partly with spurred cordon, benefit from full southern exposure and calcareous clay soil rich in skeleton.
Taste Profile: Intense red in colour, tending to garnet with age. A wide bouquet, fine and complex, with characteristic notes of red fruit jam and spices. Intense fragrances of cherry, dried fruit, and tobacco stand out. When tasted, this wine inebriates the palate thanks to its exceptional power and extreme balance, persistent through a long finish. A nicely poised Amarone with lots of liquorice and currant character on the nose and palate. Medium-to full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a tight, fresh finish, which bodes well for further ageing. Rated 93pts. Drink now or cellar for up to 25 years; recommended to decant for an hour.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are harvested by hand, placed in small boxes, and left to dry for about three months in a fruit cellar — during which time their weight decreases by 30–40%. This is followed by destemming and soft pressing, with controlled fermentation. The wine then ages for five years in wooden barrels of various sizes and refines for at least six months in the bottle, reaching a perfect tannic and aromatic evolution. Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
