From the fifth-oldest Cinsault vineyard in South Africa — made only in exceptional years, and treated with the reverence due to a parent grape of Pinotage itself.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Cinsault, from the fourth oldest Cinsault vineyard in the country, planted in 1952, on the Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch, South Africa. The 1952 heritage block is among the five oldest Cinsault plantings in the Cape winelands, with a total of 3.8 hectares under vine — preceded only by the Bason vineyard in Wellington (registered 1900), the Lötter vineyard in Franschhoek (1932), and two further blocks planted in 1950 and 1951. Cultivated as dryland bush vines, in the traditional approach for Cinsault, these old vines produce exceptionally low yields, enhancing the quality of the grapes.
Taste Profile: This intensely perfumed wine offers red fruit notes of raspberry, strawberry, plum, and pomegranate, wrapped in silky tannins and persisting on the finish. Critic Greg Sherwood describes the 2024 as showing intricate, complex aromatics laced with rose petal, potpourri, raspberry herbal tea, red cherries, fynbos, dried herbs, dusty stony minerals, and intricate Turkish delight nuances — the palate tight knit, compact and intense, deliciously sweet fruited, incredibly concentrated and intense with a sleek, harmonious mineral texture. A phenomenal expression of old vine Cinsault that combines power, intensity, precision, and purity.
Winemaking Process: Made only in exceptional vintages, this delicate, intricate wine is handled with the utmost reverence, from hand-harvesting and natural fermentation to gentle maturation in French oak. The hand-harvested grapes underwent a cold soak for three days, followed by inoculation and fermentation with pump-over three times daily. Once fermentation was complete, the skins were pressed, and the wine was racked into 300-litre French oak barrels, where it underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation, before maturing for 10 months

Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
