With records dating back to 1121, Willi Schaefer is a benchmark for the Mosel and the wines are coveted not just by collectors, but by other growers.
Since 2015, Christoph Schaefer and his wife Andrea run this storied family winery in Graach. Their winemaking philosophy is not much different than that of Christoph’s father or grandfather. The focus is not on numbers or analytics, but on how the grapes taste. From harvesting each plot to the fermentations with natural yeast, all the way through bottling, everything is done by taste and feel.
Grape Varietals & Region: The wine is made from 100% Riesling grapes sourced from the Graacher Domprobst vineyard, a prestigious site known for its steep slopes and slate soils. This combination of terroir imparts a distinct mineral character to the wine, enhancing its complexity and depth of flavors.
Taste Profile: In the glass, Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese #5 displays a vibrant golden hue, inviting you to explore its enticing aromas. The nose reveals a beautiful bouquet of ripe peaches, citrus blossoms, and hints of honey. These delicate aromas set the stage for the wine's elegant and nuanced taste profile.
On the palate, this Spätlese (late harvest) Riesling offers a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity. We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
