Loveblock Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Four different vessels — concrete egg, amphora, neutral oak and steel — fermented separately, then blended for the best of each.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Sauvignon Blanc, entirely from the certified-organic Woolshed vineyard on Loveblock Farm, in the Lower Dashwood sub-region of Marlborough's Awatere Valley, New Zealand, on predominantly alluvial loam over stone. No sulphur or ascorbic acid is used in the vineyard, in keeping with organic practice.
Taste Profile: A pale straw colour with hints of green and gold. A complex, elegant bouquet of pineapple, guava and meadow grass. The dry, low-to-medium-bodied palate carries a round texture and compelling creaminess, with grapefruit and lemon citrus, a good dose of sweet pineapple, ripe peach and chalky minerality.
Winemaking Process: Grapes are harvested 65% by machine and 35% by hand in the cool Marlborough morning, processed in small batches sized to match soil variation across the vineyard. The hand-picked fruit ferments separately across a concrete egg, two amphorae and neutral old French oak barrels on wild yeast — the egg and amphora portions pressed and settled for a few hours before spontaneous primary and secondary fermentation, the barrel portion going straight from press to barrel with full malolactic fermentation. The machine-harvested portion goes straight to stainless steel, where 25% undergoes full malolactic fermentation to soften acidity. Only the best parcels from each vessel are selected for the final blend.
Winemaker: Loveblock is the second act of Erica and Kim Crawford, the couple who built Kim Crawford Wines into one of New Zealand's biggest export brands before selling it to Constellation in 2006. A non-compete clause kept them out of winemaking until 2009, during which time they quietly developed a farm on Marlborough's east coast; when they finally launched Loveblock in 2014, they left the old virtual-winery model behind entirely, converting the property to certified organic farming from the ground up.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
