Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from Rödchen in Martinsthal, a VDP.Grosse Lage site where clay-slate and sandy loam sit over Taunus quartzite, letting vines drive roots deep for abundant nutrition.
Taste Profile: A masterpiece marrying enormous concentration and minerality with fantastic elegance, and a super-long finish. An exceptional Riesling built to live for decades, with incredibly stony minerality, salt and insane fruit-acid complexity — great stuff, but only for freaks.
Winemaking Process: Fermentation takes place largely in pressure tanks, after which the young wine is racked into traditional Rheingau Stückfässer, where it rests on its fine lees until bottling — often held back, in Becker's traditionalist style, well beyond the norm for the region.
Winemaker: The winery is run by third-generation grower and winemaker Hans-Joseph "Hajo" Becker, a traditionalist among Rheingau producers farming 13 hectares — mostly Riesling, with a growing share of Pinot Noir — entirely within the Walkenberg VDP.Grosse Lage. Even as the Rheingau converted en masse to trocken Riesling, Becker held to older practices: preserving old vines over clones, farming organically without advertising it, and bottling wines later than most of his peers. Annual production runs to about 45,000 bottles, and the wines remain highly sought after by sommeliers and critics worldwide.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
