Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Superiore 2020
The king of baby Amarone — a top Valpolicella selection that "passes over" (ripassa) freshly fermented Amarone pomace for a second brief fermentation.
Grape Varietals & Region: 85% Corvina, 10% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta, from vineyards in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, on the hills of the Classic area, Veneto, Italy, at 250–300 metres altitude with southeastern and southwestern exposure. Vines average 10–15 years old, grown in mostly limey-clay soils on a guyot training system.
Taste Profile: Deep ruby red colour. The nose opens with black cherries, red plums, strawberries and a hint of dried fruit. The full-bodied palate has a velvety texture, good structure and soft acidity, with juicy black cherry and red plum flavours meeting dried figs, rum pot, coffee, liquorice and baking spices, closing in a long, noble finale.
Winemaking Process: After destemming, the grapes macerate in stainless steel fermenters for 10–12 days. Following alcoholic fermentation, light pressing separates the skins, and the new wine is passed over Amarone marc for 7–8 days to gain extra depth. Ages 18 months in oak barrels and a further 6 months in bottle.
Winemaker: Zenato was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato and his wife Carla in Peschiera del Garda, going on to become known as the soul of Lugana and the heart of Valpolicella through 95 hectares of vineyards spanning both zones. Today the estate is led by their children Alberto and Nadia Zenato, who have continued the family's focus on indigenous Veneto varieties and traditional appassimento technique.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
