Description
Petit Vega 18 Meses En Barrica 2019
Petit Vega 18 Meses En Barrica has enormous intensity (old vines), freshness (altitude of vineyards) and a velvety vanilla opulence (from ageing). The nose opens to reveal liquorice, violet florals, tobacco spice, dark chocolate and toast. The textured palate has a core of juicy black fruit loaded with vanilla spice. There's just enough tannin and acidity to support the generous levels of fruit flavour, making it really fun and approachable.
Ageing potential: Drink now or keep until 2030!
100% Tempranillo. The fruit comes from 3 single vineyards (La Curva, Barcoabajo and La Condesa) located near Fuentelcesped: one of the best areas within the DO Ribera del Duero. The oldest vines date from 1940 and the youngest from 2002. The vines grow on limestone soils at 840 metre altitude, which means that it cools down considerably at night despite the warm summers.
Handpicking of the fruit. Ages in French oak barrels for 18 months.
