Old vines form the foot of the Ayler Kupp slope.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Riesling from the foot of the Ayler Kupp slopes. The lower part of the slope benefits from centuries of weathering from the higher slate slope. The most finely weathered stones collect here due to the erosion from rain. The small fragments are available to the vines as a source of minerals
Taste Profile: The long-lasting dryish wine comes from old vines and is dense, exciting, and always a little salty on the palate. It tends to be one of the broadest and most powerful of Lauer’s dry wines. Because of the ample water, it has a mineral expression that is multifaceted, complex, deep
It has a beautifully complex and smoky nose of candied lime, grapefruit zest, smoky bacon, ginger, almond, yuzu, and white flowers. The wine is superbly playful and refined on the palate, where some light creamy and juicy elements make for an appealing touch. The finish is beautifully spicy and herbal and already fully dry.
Succulent stonefruit with a citrus backbone characterises these wines. Typically, they have notes of tropical fruit, and come from warmer climates. A touch of oak during the winemaking process also helps to give some softness to the wine.
