Forest Hill Vineyard Malbec 2021
Grape Varietals & Region: This Malbec is sourced from a single site at Forest Hill Vineyard in Great Southern, Western Australia, on a slightly south facing slope - dry grown on duplex soil of gravel loam over clay.
Taste Profile: The wine displays characteristic fruits of the forest aromas, particularly blueberry, with a mix of bright floral spice. The palate is supple and soft with a lovely line of density and an even tannin structure
Winemaking Process: The Malbec is pick in two passes, de-stemmed into open fermenter, maintaining as many whole berries as possible and then cold soak before ferment. Fermenters were pumped over or plunged by hand twice a day; temperature spiked at around 25°C. The wine was then pressed to mostly 500L puncheon (less than 5% new) for Malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was blended with a small component of wholebunch fermented Malbec (4%) and bottled after 10 months oak maturation.
